Weekend Philly Fun
Went to Philadelphia this past weekend. I left work early on Friday to pick to try and beat traffic there. I was in a rush because I was trying to see the first friday exhibit (art gallery openings) in the Old City portion of Philly which ends 9pm. Needless to say traffic was bad, but I still got there in time.
I ended up staying at a lovely BB called the Gables. It was outside of the University of Penn in what a very nice part of town.
The first friday or gallery openings was rather bad in my opinion. I had fun going from gallery to gallery but philly presents the art work in a much different way from NYC. A couple of pieces were nice but it was actually hard to focus on any single work because he walls were so cluttered with artwork. They jammed every inch of wall with paintings or photos, and not just in one gallery. This seemed to be the trend everywhere. Weird.
After the gallery openings I went on a walking 3D sound (yes I know..3D sound..) tour of Philadelphia that focused on Benjamin Franklin called The Lights of Liberty. I enjoyed it.
The next day was spent at the Franklin Institute. I love that museum. I haven’t been there since I was 12 probably. Nothing is better than interactive museums. Plus I saw an IMAX movie of “Wild Ocean“. It makes me want to go to the eastern coast of africa.
Overall it was a fun weekend.
